Yellow curtains

While slowly renovating my home, one of the first things I did was to ask myself what colours I would most like to surround myself with. I realised how much I like yellow for the warmth and glow it can bring to certain rooms, particularly north facing ones, as an accent colour or a soft background.

I wouldn't go for bright yellow, nothing vivid. Instead, what I'm interested in are the buttery yellow tones, slightly earthy, like those found in 'The Winter Garden' by Manet. The accent colour to a neutral palette.

Next to my desk, this dried yellow statice was the starting point in finding the right fabric to make my bedroom curtains... With this colour in mind, I ordered my yellow samples.

With the plan of making the curtains myself, I decided not to compromise on fabric quality.  The chosen fabric is the one on the bottom left, 'Slubby Linen II Fabric ' by Warwick.

The curtains were made with an interlining and blackout fabric to acheive maximum insulation and bloc light. Due to their thickness, I could only use the sowing machine for a few elements, and had to sow most of it by hand, resulting in a project much more time-consuming than I had planned!

Now finished, these curtains bring me joy everyday. Next, I will add a simple pelmet and sheer curtains.
